Trying to get rid of trees in front of a building

Hi, Im learning PS and I'm trying to get rid of the trees from this image. But i havent been able to make a clean selection of the trees in front of the building with any selection tool is there a way to get rid of these trees? i tried lassoing them out and then using content aware fill but that just butchers the image

The answer is simple. Stop selecting the trees.

Duplicate the left column onto a new layer and scale to create the right facade.

Then use the clone stamp tool on a new layer sourced to various areas to cover up the trees.
