Open a new document.
Image > Analysis > Set Measurement Scale > Custom... > Logical Units
Type anything into the text field for Logical Units.
The text box where you enter a custom logical unit takes character input backwards. So if you intended to write "inches" the box will display "sehcni". The cursor also remains on the left side of the text box. Quite a hilarious bug, but an issue, nonetheless.

Here are some ideas.. hope one of them can fix it: (my PSD is in german, hope that doesn´t matter)
1. Check "Type" in your preferences
2. Check "Type" outside your preferences
3. When crating a text box have a look into the options here:
