Unable to save files from Photoshop 23.0.2

Save button grayed out, cannot select save location. Must use keyboard shortcut to 'cancel' out of save dialog.

I'm on Mac OS 12.6 and this happens in PS and AI. I've lost a lot of work and it's become a big problem. I have dug through the online community and it says this was addressed in Mac OS 12.3 - I'm on 12.6. What is the solution?

What type of file are you trying to save?  Does it reside on your primary hard drive?

Try Resetting Photoshop Preferences.

Using a keyboard shortcut

  • Quit Photoshop.

  • Hold down the following keyboard shortcut and launch Photoshop:

macOS: command + option + shift

Windows: ctrl + alt + shift

  • Open Photoshop.

Click Yes in the dialog that asks "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?" New preferences files will be created in their original location.
