Unable to see my images when opening

New Here ,

I am running on Mac 10.15.7 Catalina and have upgraded to Photoshop 2025 (26..6.0). When I attempt to open an image that I have previously worked on, the image is black. The layers panel is visible but toggling the layers on and off has no effect on the image.  How do I resolve this?

Many users have reported that resetting the Photoshop preferences corrected the issue:

specifically removing the MachinePrefs.psp in

Macintosh HD/Users/UserName/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop 2025 Settings

If Jeff's suggestion doesn't fix it, try the Cleaner tool. https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
