You can update in the CC app if your computer meets the system requirements. You didn't tell us your macOS, RAM, and other system info.

I went to CC and it tells me that I need to upgrade to macOS 10.14 or later and I have 10.11.6 when I click software update then tells me there's no updates

Your computer is over ten years old and it's had a good run. There have been seven macOS updates and we've gone from X (10) to 13. Your computer won't be able to install either the newest macOS or the newest Photoshop.

Keep enjoying what you have until you are ready to upgrade your computer. Your subscription includes the newest version of Photoshop, but you have to have a computer that meets or exceeds the recommended system requirements to run it.

For your iMac Late 2012, macOS Catalina 10.15 is as far as Apple officially supports.

Though i would be hesitant to do so, since no 32 bit applications will work on macOS Catalina and that still won't get you the latest photoshop.
