Using save as in actions strips the file suffix .jpg from the file name. Need a fix or workaround

How do I save a tiff file from one folder to a different folder as a jpg using actions? When I try to do that now, the action removes the .jpg, making the file useless unless I add the suffix back in manually.

As already mentioned by @Chuck Uebele you will need script like Image Processor or Image Processor Pro for conversion without pain. Another automated way is to use Adobe Bridge and its Export panel as shown in video below.
