Hi, I'm wondering if there's way to colour in a pattern background (not the main image). I have created the background throught doing it through the contact sheet and then coping it to another page where i then createred it into a filled pattern then had the centred image and put in an overlay. But im wanting to tint the background (hopefully it can be seen)
kind regards elise

This is the forum for Photoshop Elements. You are using full Photoshop and you may be well served to head over to that forum.
Having said that, in PSE I would colorize the entire image, then with a mask paint with black to reveal your "Central Image."
If you have saved the file with the layer structure intact, you can selectively colorize the background pattern layer to suit.

I would suggest using a Color Overlay layer style set to Overlay.
If we could see all your layers there may be a different or better way.
