I am using photoshop 2021 (ver 22.5) and when I use the blending option on the layer, photoshop crashes. Does anyone know how to solve this? Thanks 🙏

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible?

Thank you very much for your response and advice. I tried Restoring Preferences and it looks like photoshop is working again 🙂

Hi Lubo

As c.pfaffenbichler suggested - you maye perhaps like to try resetting Photoshop preferences?

Resetting restores Photoshop's internal preferences, which are saved when Photoshop closes. If they become corrupt then various issues can occur.

Here’s some info on how to do that:

https://t.co/ulJI7cGn1G

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

You may want to backup your settings and your custom presets, brushes & actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences. Migrate presets, actions, and settings

It may even be time to reinstall Photoshop.

Use the Adobe CC cleaner tool to remove all traces first.

Uninstall photoshop BUT make sure to choose the option “Yes, remove app preference”.

Once that process finishes, start the installation process and look into the “Advanced Options”. Uncheck “Import previous settings and preferences” and choose to “Remove old versions”.

I hope this helps

For perspective, I'm still using PS 6 in compatibility mode and it has this same problem. Insert some text, right click the text layer and select Blending Options, and Photoshop freezes dead in its tracks. Happens every time. This feature is simply not available.
