Why cant I select the refined edges to round my square? - I included the video

Hi Guys im trying to round the edges of my square 

Im using this tutorial for it..But when I try to select redefine edges , im unable to select it. Could anyone plz tell me what I am doing wrong. I have included a video..This is the tutorial that I am following by the way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1T96mMUNLs

It seems you have a Shape Layer selected.

Ok thank you for your fast response..But that is the shape that I want to round..What am I missing?

Vector Masks and Layer Masks are different things.

I am again thanks full to yout fast reply..But I am not very skilled in PS. Could you please explain me more simplistic what I am doing wrong? As I created the square , it has become a new layer which is the vector mask in this case? And vector masks I cant round? Sorry if I am asking stupid question.

Take a look at the Properties Panel.

If you created the rectangle properly you should be able to set round corners in the Properties Panel.

Hi thanks again..Well This has kinda been a problem..When I select the more round options in the meny you printscreen. Nothing happens...I have included a video again..The video is now in the attachment of where I initially uploaded the video..Could you plz check that again?

Take a look at the screenshot I posted, in particular the four fields that contain the text »20 px«.

aaaah super thanks!!...so that is what creates the round edges? big thanks finally got it thanks to you

But that only applies to rectangulat Paths/Vector Masks, with Layer Masks (which are pixels and not vector data) other approaches can be employed.

tthank..I finally know understand what you mean with paths and layer masks..As the square I made was made with the paths/vector.. Thank you again for your time. Hopefully next time again when i dive deeper:)
