Hey,
are you trying to make a magic trick or are you just trying to spell us?
I use:
After Effects
Premiere
Photoshop
a lot!
And you know what make me crazyyyy
The layout and position of the shortcuts menu (and the way you edit it)
Would it be an insult if we could normalize this?
In After Effect and Premiere you can search for the short cuts > but in Photoshop nooooo
Why is that?
In photoshop its under the "edit Menu"
In premiere under the "Adobe premiere Menu" (why?)
Ok in AE its und Edit too
These 3 Apps will be used together, so why is it that they are on different locations
And work in different ways.
To me this makes no sense.
But if this has a good explanation: I am willing to read.
cheers Peter

Hi @Peter A Lund no answer/defense but a little context.
Each product is developed by different teams and depending on if it was a developed solution or acquired, certain aspects are different (for now).
There was at one time an overarching "Creative Cloud" team that would have helped with this kind of coordination, I'm not sure what happened.
My suggestion is to search the Ideas forum and upvote or add a suggestion to "normalize" the keyboard shortcuts interface, taking the best pieces from each application and applying to all.

Hi Kevin,
Thanxs for the info.
Is there are reals advanced book on editing premiere pro?
Something like the Avid Handbook but for premiere?
I had to swith from Avid, but I am still looking for good books.
I can only find books that teach standard stuf.
Editing is more about the workflows and I miss this for premiere.
cheers Peter

Besides the Classroom in a Book series by Peach Pit, I'm not sure if there are other book resources for Premiere. PS is more my forte.
I did notice that this is the 2022 edition as well, so not updated for recent versions (yet).

The applications were originally written at different points in history, many years apart, over the last 25 years. Also, After Effects was not originally created at Adobe; Adobe is the third owner of the software.
Photoshop has a more primitive shortcuts editor because it’s the oldest of those applications, and the shortcut editor has not been updated lately. The keyboard shortcuts editor in Premiere Pro and After Effects is not their original one from the 1990s, it was modernized and improved several years ago. That’s why it’s easier to use and more powerful than the one in Photoshop.
When something is a very high priority at Adobe, like adding cloud collaboration, they may require that all product teams put it in and do it similarly. The keyboard shortcuts editor is considered a low priority compared to the hundreds of other potential improvements and bug fixes they consider, so nothing much happens with it, and different product teams are not as strictly required to make it the same across all products.
That doesn’t mean nothing ever happens. This year’s latest major upgrade to Adobe Bridge added the ability to edit keyboard shortcuts for the first time (a big surprise), and that team chose to add the improved shortcut editor used by the Adobe video/audio applications.
I agree with you that it would be nice if they were more consistent. My personal opinion is that the shortcuts editor in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign needs to be replaced with the more visual, flexible editor used by the Adobe video/audio applications.

Hey Conrad,
i am well aware of the facts.
I use PS since 91 and AE since 94.
But I wanted a discussion here in the forum, to see if I am that stupid as a user,
because it realy is making me mad.
At one point in time teams have to talk to each other about workflows that overlap.
Adobe designed the programs to overlap and interact, so I wonder why on earth this
is not reflected in the beta testing.
I cannot imaging an avid user of these app, that is not annoid by this layout of the menus.
It does not matter if you are a single app user, but if you try to get things done than this
issue starts to bother you.
By the way: I was very into having keyboard shortcuts in Bridge!
Because the app lost the IOS shortcuts every time you updated it > So you had always
Groundhog day!
So thanxs for the behind the scenes.
I am looking forward.
cheers Peter

I'm pretty much done with Adobe,
I have been using Photoshop and Illustrator since the 90's and I'm so sad that it has gotten to this point. It seems like [cursing removed] that they aquire new programs and keep them as is because "different teams" develop them. I just tried Adobe Animate today, I used to joke around that there was no consistancy between Premiere and After Effects and now Im completely lost in a different program. Cancelling my $100= a month Adobe CC Subscription.
Thanks
Wade

i edit some for my job and it seems like every time i update the premiere and ae another aspect of core functionality is broken or underperforms compared to what was previously. yesterday ae crashed on me 3 times in 2 hours and despite saving every 2 minutes somehow the save point went back to 2 hours before.
every few minutes working in whatever program i see that adobe is capturing my screen. it's nice to provide a megabillion dollar company with free design templates and ideas.

If you’re on a Mac and you’re describing a screen capture warning from macOS, be aware that this is a macOS problem that affects many apps. Other Mac users and developers have been complaining to Apple about it for a couple of years.

You jumped in on a thread from 2023 in the Photoshop forum.
Here are the links for Premiere Pro and After Effects for you — where you are more likely to get help with these issues. Please be specific about what is broken or underperforms.
