Why Photoshop is reverting back to brush?

I'm using

Adobe Photoshop Version: 23.5.1 20220907.r.724 5600b96 x64
Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
Version: 10 10.0.19044.2006

I used to press a key to select tool but now Photoshop seem to behave in a different way and I have no clue to how to "roll back" to previous behavior.

For instance I have a brush selected, and press V for the move tool. It select move tool but then move back again to brush. If I want to keep using the move tool I have to hold V. This is happening to other tools as well such as eyedropper, marquee tool etc. Why?

Maybe it's a very simple solution such as a checkbox hidden somewhere but I have no clue even where to look for. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

In Preferences > Tools do you have 'Spring Loaded Tool Shortcuts' checked? if so, uncheck it.
