Why were the file formats removed from the Save As dialog in Photoshop 22.4.x?

With the latest Photoshop update 22.4.2 why IN THE WORLD did you remove the file formats when saving as? What's the logic in that???? Now we have to do addl work to remove the word COPY from the file name when saving as a jpg or most other files.
WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THIS?

With the latest version of Photoshop you can now revert to the Legacy Save As behavior using the steps suggested here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/saving-images.html#revert-legacy-save-option
