I think you might be talking about lifting the white feathers off that black reflector case (which they appear to be using as a better contrast background). Remove Background is not going to work well in this instance, as can be seen in the lower example below. (I used the bright background to better show the dark fringe.
A better approach is to go back a tiny bit. Select the Quick Selection tool, and then click on Select Subject in the Options Bar. The use Select & Mask and use the Refine Ed

A better approach is to go back a tiny bit. Select the Quick Selection tool, and then click on Select Subject in the Options Bar. The use Select & Mask and use the Refine Edge brush to paint around the outer edge of the feathers. That does a decent job, and one that has been steadily improved over the years since it was first introduced.
