Zoom lags and freezes window

i havebeen having issues with photoshop freezing when using the zoom? i have to save every ten second cause it will stop responding and i have to restart my computer just so it will close the window.-_- ive updated when the updates come out in the app. and i Have ZERO idea about anything technical so going into settings is beyond me HAHA. but in all seriousness i need help. it is making work nearly impossible.

Try enabling this option in preferences and restarting Photoshop to see if it helps

Ged_Traynor has part of the correct solution. If you're still having slight issues, simply hit "Ctrl+R" in Photoshop to deactivate the Rulers. Activate them only when you need them. The combination of these suggestions should fix the zoom lag. Photoshop suffers from the integration of the ruler function with the zoom feature and using GPU acceleration to assist with this. I don't know why GPU acceleration is needed for this. Simple is sometimes better, Adobe.
