seriously team-photoshop - ya'll suck for still not adding it by this point. i mean, fireworks has the capability, illustrator has it.. just port the d**n code over already?
If you want to export large elements that will be nine-sliced in another app such as Unity or other game development tool, you may find the Nine-Slicer app useful. https://store.steampowered.com/app/839180/NineSlicer/?beta=0 Unfortunately, it doesn't help while designing in Photoshop.
I don't think the issue is exporting a 9 slice asset for most people.
What I would like to see is a smart object in Photoshop that I can scale in any dimension, and it works like a 9 slice in other applications. I.e. I can define within the smart object the 9 segments of my UI element (a button or window for example), and when I exit the smart object and scale it on my canvas, it automatically uses the 9 slice info to scale properly to any dimension (either by repeating segments or stretching, this should be an option).
This is a far more simple and useful tool for most game devs and people trying to design functional UI. And yes, I agree with everyone in this community--why is it 2024 and this tool is still not here?
But, alas, this is no longer functioning in latest version of photoshop. The UI pops up, but nothing works. If someone with code knowledge can get this thing working I'm sure everyone in this thread would appreciate it!
