P: Bring Drag and Drop Docking to the Contextual Task Bar

Community Beginner ,

Problem:

The new contextual task bar is great and having it undocked and positioning itself is often very helpful, but It often gets in the way when I don't need it. I find myself continually togling in Window > Contextural Task Bar.

Idea:

Bring drag+drop docking that exists in other tool bars to the Contextual Task Bar. The tool bar would only contextually position itself when it is undocked.

Additionally a dock/undock button would be great since dragging and dropping it to it's position is unneceserry since it will contextually position itself.

@John270504377t7o this is being evaluated - for now I pinned (using the options) to the top of my application frame in a blank space - simulating docking until this is released in a future version.

The fact that everyone has invested so much mental energy into the panels paradigm and now Adobe introduces something else that can't be managed like a panel is absolutely bonkers to me. We ALREADY HAVE contextual controls in the Properties panel! The floating bar is so annoying!

I couldn't agree more. Unpinned it always covers part of my work or is in the way of other functions. Very disruptive to my work flow. You cannot close it, because the generative options aren't available anywhere else. (Which is annoying as well.) Pinning is by no means useful as there is no place where it is not in the way. Being able to dock it would solve all of that. It's why docking was invented it the first place: to tidy your panels and tools, give you control over the layout of your workspace and allow you to easily locate functionalities.

I am also having trouble with the floating Contextual Task Bar. I pin it to a location, but I find that when I work on different monitor setups, the task bar is stuck in the spot where I last used it.

For example, at work, I have two monitors, and at home, I only have one. When I open PS at home, the taskbar is nowhere to be found. It never shows if I try to toggle the option to have it on or off. It's like it's stuck in the position from when I opened it at work and won't find it until I'm back.

I understand and do use the same features that can be found in the task bar in the other areas, but isn't the point of it to help with quick options?

Also, why isn't it confined to the program? I would love to be able to dock it so that, regardless of where I am or what screen setup I have, I always know it's there.
