P: Bring Quick Share back to Photoshop (removed from 23.3)

Adobe, bring back the Quick Share button that was at the top right of Photoshop (it was just removed with the April release of Photoshop 23.3)

The reasoning for removing it is stated as "due to low usage, desire to simplify the options bar UI, and redundant functionality to other export functions."

But there is no other export function (that I am aware of) that allows you to send an image directly to another device via AirDrop -- This was extremely convenient as I didnt have to save/export a file onto my HDD everytime I wanted to send something to my phone or tablet.
Please bring it back and tuck it away somwhere if you have to.

I CONSTANTLY utilize this to send proofs, concepts, versions, etc, of multi-layer files, etc. I will set up my canvas as wanted and export directly to Apple Photos quite often, and I have basic templates that are only slightly modified, and I don't need a folder full of unneeded revisions when all I needed to do was capture the canvas and drop that to Photos.

I agree! And yes….photoshop, I know how to navigate through the protocol of sharing 2022 style…just an inconvenience! How about a KISS! ?

This was also problematic for me as well. I use that function daily for particular workflows that necessitate the involvement of apps on mobile devices that do not run on MacOS or Windows. It's extra steps now. Trying to think out a better alternative in lieu of Adobe and Apple figuring out how to keep the workflow between devices more smooth running and transparent. I'd rather not have to rely on cloud services.

It's utterly ridiculous to push us to use Adobe Cloud for our workflows. I've enver been in a creative situation that has actually worked on a OSFA concept.

I remember that tiny Quick Share icon in right upper corner but I never used it. I also don't think this removal affected Windows users (of which I'm representant) as I don't see here any, though on the list of applications to choose there are few popular. Weird.

Why aren't you happy? 😄 Just look at the interafce after this update - now it's so stupidly-simplified, and it's finally free of redunant export funcionalities (incl. svg removed for same reason)! Hi @Derek Cross... I am well aware of that, but the point of the Quick Share was NOT having to save a proof or mobile file to the HD, thereby avoiding clutter and extra steps. And if pushing users to the Cloud was not the point, why is the new Share functionality directed to that purpose? The point is that this change is the opposite of streamlining workflows or making file sharing more nimble.

The crazy part is that both Apple and Microsoft have system share sheets built in. I like seeing developers implement system functionality, especially when its offered on both major desktop platforms. I really can't see an argument for NOT having a share feature in all document-based apps.

Meaning I have a psd file open and I can airdrop it as a jpeg to my phone quickly and easily.

And I already contacted support and they said to open an older version of photoshop and that's ridiculous.

You can still AirDrop through Finder. I Cmd+Click the Title Bar to display the path, then click the folder that contains the file to open Finder. The file will be selected, so right-click and AirDrop.

Some people are saying they don't want to save the file first. You have to save it to use this method, but as soon as you AirDrop from Finder, you can Cmd+Click the file to delete it and pop right back to Photoshop. Fortunately, macOS lets you delete, move, copy, etc., when the file is still open.

It's not as easy as what we had, but it's the best we can do for now.

You don't need to submit this to "Ideas", btw. As soon as Staff sees it, they will merge your post(s) with the one that is already there. You can Upvote on the Ideas page.

She already requested for it 5 hours ago in Ideas conversation type dedicated thread, so rather she simply wanted now to know some satisfying workaround for this inconvenience instead of reverting an update.

@Kevin Stohlmeyer Forgive me for being skeptical of that answer. The clear direction is to move users to sharing through Creative Cloud, which makes this decision seem much more like a business case than a usage argument. After all, doesn't Adobe's market value increase significantly if its dedicated users also increase? That's essentially what this change attempts to do. If that wasn't the case, why not get rid of the Share button altogether...

As to my view he is not skeptical to your answer, but the statement linked in your answer. The next part of his post clearly shows that he later read given reasons but found them to look quite clumsy to the arisen situation.

@Kevin Stohlmeyer A couple of relevant facts... Adobe continues to lag other companies, particularly Apple and Google, in its cloud market share and adoption. Its cloud filesharing market share is .17% to Dropbox's 2.87%. The company has stated that its goal is to significantly increase its share of the cloud "Experience" market in the next five years, with aggressive plans to do so. Replacing a functionality that allowed users to share to other platforms with a function that requires use of Creative Cloud looks like an obvious strategy to achieve this growth. There's nothing wrong with companies trying to increase their market share — and Adobe has had some aggressive tactics to do so in the past; the problem is that the corporate line on why they took away the functionality is basically gaslighting.

Not true, this functionality was used by everyone I know who knew it existed and whenever somebody did but know about it and Indhared it with them they immediately started to use it!

This is very unfortunate,  I use this feature all the time. It helped me airdrop to review my work on my phone. This is not fair, please bring back!
