PDF Presentation default folder

Community Beginner ,
Jul 17, 2023 Jul 17, 2023

Hi,

When I want to edit a document or a photo and save it as a PDF, by default it always saves it to the "Documents" folder. What I would like is to be given the option "Export files to an assets folder next to the current document" and save it there. I don't want to have to choose a folder all the time.

I kindly ask you to add the development you will make about this to the nearest update.

Sincerely,

Engin T.

The File > Automate > PDF Presentation is a script, so this could be modified.

That being said, there are multiple PDF files that can be added from different locations, so which location should be used?

Thanks for the reply. I just want to save the file as PDF in the same folder where I opened it, that's all.

Are you using Save As > Photoshop PDF

OR

Automate > PDF Presentation

Are you only opening a single file, or multiple files?

I use Automate > PDF Presentation

I use it both ways, as a single file or multiple files, but I usually put them all in their own folder.

OK, so if you open multiple files, are they all from the same location?

How would a single multi page PDF be saved if the source files were from multiple different locations?

OK, so if you open multiple files, are they all from the same location? Correct.

How would a single multi page PDF be saved if the source files were from multiple different locations? The files don't come from multiple locations, they come from a single location.

OK, great, that gives me something to work with.

That being said, the default Adobe scripts are very complex, often containing thousands of lines of code, so I'm not going to make any promises as this may be above my pay grade.

Yes, exactly what I want is to provide such an option in Automate > PDF Presentation as I have shared in the screenshot.

This is an "idea" (feature request) topic, so I don't wish to hijack it, people should vote on the topic.

My first challenge is finding the location of the script!

EDIT: It may not be a script, I think that it is a C++ plugin... PDF presentation can be scripted though, so this could be scripted from scratch.

Can you show what options you use in the interface? Is it a multi-page PDF or Presentation?

Actually, there is nothing here that prevents what and how you select in the interface from saving to the folder where the file opened by default is located, you can open the Photoshop application and examine it yourself. When I click on the "Save" button in the interface, the "Documents" folder, which is the "C:\Users\username\Documents" folder at this address, is opened for me to save the file every time.
