Professional and Proper SAVE option

SO i had to use photoshop today (latest, April 2022), and i ended up pulling my hair out over the MESS of save methods...

Why on earth can we not have ONE save button, that opens ONE dialog window with options...

i'm always clicking Save As, or Save a Copy, or Export... cursing photoshop, opening one of the others, searching AGAIN for what i need, going back to one of the others, getting a request for a different file type, searching AGAIN through...

Its almost as if the interface designers (or fiddlers) have NEVER seen their customers using the software ?!?!?!?! An accusation thats been presented MANY times over the years. Surely not ?!?!?!

It's actually very simple. If the file type supports all the content of your document e.g. layers, bit depth, transparency, paths etc it will appear in Save. If not it will appear in Save a Copy.

Export is for saving for web use and strips out various metadata that is not needed for such use.

You can revert to the older Save behaviour by choosing to use legacy Save in preferences.

Clearly you dont make interfaces for users. The current system is a
complicated mess - its doesnt matter if one in a million think "its very
simple" when there isnt a need or reason for making users
learn/remember/discuss so many unnecessary steps.

I don't make interfaces for anyone. I am not an employee just a Photoshop user who uses the software every day.

As I said previously, if you prefer the older behaviour then set it that way in Preferences.

So my suggestion still stands - lets make everyone's life better with ONE
save button opening a proper options box...

I think some people enjoy complaining almost as much as they enjoy doing nothing about it.

Picking a fight with a stranger who points out serious flaws, and/or
obvious improvements is not a sensible approach in any business. Im sure
your best friend has his moments, but he admitted he doesnt know about
design, and your need to ignore the point of all this, to defend a
nonexistent stance is rather childish. i suggest you focus on the point in
hand, and stop wasting everyones time. Just a suggestion.
