The "new digital camera", and "skip the photoshoot"

Hi, I'm a photographer who's unhappy with Adobe. It's bad enought that we're forced to use a subscription based software that seemingly has issues with every update that causes a loss of time in figuring out how to do the same thing I did before. Now Adobe is advertising "skip the photoshoot", and that AI is the "new digital camera". Have we reached a point where not even Adobe values photographers? I thought it would be budget minded clients that pushed me out of this industry, but increasingly, it seems to be tone deaf Adobe. Talentless hacks will continue to produce garbage, regardless of the tools they have. Talented artists should be able to use those tools to produce even better artwork.

The death of photography has been proclaimed many times. The last time was when phones exploded. That actually turned out to be a blessing, because everybody came to expect photos of everything, so demand exploded as well. But at the same time it also became apparent that the phones couldn't fix bad lighting and bad photographers.

So the net effect for me was that I got more work than ever before.

I trust something similar will happen this time with AI.

I would be happy to keep paying my subscription if Adobe would just give us a Firefly feature that allows us to turn our own photos into art.

I'm not commenting on users of photoshop or their skill level, nor am I predicting the death of an art medium. It's more that it feels like Adobe has become a bean counter, and is no longer trying to genuinely improve the user experience. Every version is a time suck in relearning the program mechanics, only to discover a few features are changed or gone. Photography is less fun because of this. I love PS/BR and photography, and wish it could be different.
