Updating main layer tree when selecting a filtered layer

When I select a layer from one of the filter options (Name, Kind etc.) and then go back to the main tree, the layer can't be seen, when it's in a closed layer group. This makes navigating layers a bit hard cause you never know where in the layer tree you are right now.

Can you please add the option that when a layer is selected, the parent layer groups are expanded so we can actually see that layer?

Much appreciated. I'm skeptical about making a lot of difference, but one can hope.
