can not save a file after working on it

When I call up a psd file and make changes to it i can not save it using the same name.  keeps saying program error.  I have had this issue for almost a year.  i had Adobe take over my computer screen and try to figure it out and they could not.  Also issue happens at times with other file formats.  I have no issues with the photoshop program on my laptop.

Very frustating for changes to files embedded in after effects.  I have to replace file instead of changing and resaving.
