Can't get "A" fonts to show up in Photoshop or Illustrator

I have a bunch of "A" fonts (as opposed to "O" and "TT" fonts) that Word and other programs sees and use easily but all a sudden my adobe products do not.

They are installed. I have rebooted, reset my fonts in the programs and resynced my CC fonts - all to no avail.

An old standard like Davys Dingbats for example will not work in Adobe anymore, it doesnt even see it.

How can I fix this?

Thanks in advance.

In 2019, Adobe announced that Photoshop would be ending support for PostScript Type 1 Fonts in 2021:

Photoshop to end support for PostScript Type 1 fonts

Other Adobe apps will end support for PostScript fonts in January 2023:

PostScript Type 1 fonts end of support

The recommendation is to replace those fonts with OpenType versions of the same fonts. Here's a CreativePro article with more information:

Adobe is Ending Support for Type 1 Fonts

I didn't realize Photoshop had already stopped supporting Type 1 fonts, I thought Adobe said the date was 2023.

If you're on Mac, I like TransType from FontLab for converting Type 1 to OTF.
