Which version of Photoshop and OS?

What format are the files in that you are trying to open (File > Open)?

Are there any error messages?

Is this just started to happen (i.e did you used to be able these documents)?

Have you tried resetting the Photoshop preferences?

Version Photoshop CC 2014. I also accidentally uninstalled it and for some reason came get it back. In the CC app it reads the Photoshop I could download is not compatible with my Mac. It's a Mac mini from a few years ago.

What OS version?

"For some reason my files cannot be recognized" – Not having the application installed, I would have thought, is a jolly good reason why you can't open a PSD file!

Do you have a Photoshop CC subscription?

It's either high Sierra or Mojave.

yes I have a Photoshop cc. It's was on the creative cloud but when I accidentally uninstalled it the option for Photoshop to download says not compatible. Also when I checked for updates to my Mac it reads no updates available.

LATEST

You need to download the latest version of Photoshop – maybe the last two versions in case there's an issue with Photoshop version 22.4.1 (the latest) with your OS.

Can you access the Creative Cloud app?

You also need to confirm which OS you have, check with "About this Mac".

How much RAM and spare disk capacity do you have?

So many questions! But all important.
