I've used the filters from acphun (intensify, noiseless, etc) for many years.  Suddenly, when applying them my image turns completely black.

The first thing to check is your swatches for the foreground and background colors in the Tools panel. If they are both black, this will be the result. Type the shortcut of "D" to set the swatches to the defaults of B&W and see if it works now.

Thanks for the note, Jane. I tried resetting the swatches to the default b&w. Didn’t work.

I can use the various filters and see the result. The problem is when I “apply” the filter the entire image turns black. This happens with the entire set of filters including the “noiseless” one.

Any other advice is welcome.

Hi Ron,

That's the most common reason we see, and it would have been an easy fix had it worked. For trouble-shooting purposes, do the standard PS filters work?

I see that Macphun became Skylum when they stopped being Mac-only:

If another volunteer doesn't chime in, you might try support at Skylum.

Did the "suddenly" coincide with a PS or OS update? If so, they might tell you that you need a new version.

Thanks again. The standard PS filters do work as usual with no problem. I had been using an updated PS but it got corrupted and so I deleted it and re downloaded it from Creative Cloud app (the full PS version). Not sure if the problem coincided with that. I tried support at skylum but I was told they no longer support Macphun and suggested I buy their new filters.

I’ll try the skylum support link you sent.
