Neural Filters error "there was an error running this filter"

When I try to use a neural filter, I get an error "there was an error running this filter" and a warning "there was an issue running filters". I suspect this is because on my corporate network we use an internet proxy. Is there a way to set proxy settings in Photoshop?

@Mohit Goyal no it's NOT the "correct answer" as I answered a week ago ( with no Adobe comment) the ״bug״ is ther also with the latest version installed !!!

This bug has been there in one form or another for almost, if not more than a year now. I have attempted every fix mentioned for PC (that would be 1 FIX) and it succeeded in making my just a little more frustrated. Any chance you actually test before guessing at this stuff...??? Its bad enough that we are landed where a major company simply crowd sources its QA, and for that matter almost all of its non commercial support, but if you guys are going to chime in, it would be nice if you actually were up to date on the solution.

I have been running into the error message on EVERY attempt to use neural (pronounced more correctly as Neurotic) filters, for over 8 months at this point.
I have auto update on and currently I am on version 22.4.3 20210708.R.317 bb896cc X64 running on an I7 9700K with 80GB RAM, 62TB of disk space including 1TB on M2, 1TB on SATA III SSD, and 20TB SAN Remainder on various SATA 4 and 8GB drives. attached via USB

I currently have a NVIDIA Quadro P2200 with 5GB
I previously had an NVIDIA 1550GTX that had the same issue.

I've tried with and without the GPU enabled, and have tried on 100+ images. The only consistent thing is IT FAILS EVERY TIME

Below is the SYSTEM INFO text, so that MAYBE you can look for common threads and actually solve this.

Note, I am a software developer with 38 years background. I still remain elbow deep in code every day, from Python to Java to COBOL Its all the same when it comes to RCA. Its not easy to find every bug, especially if the bug is affected by platform or config, but what is worse is thinking you have found the solution for all and ignoring the please of the masses. It would be better to state that you found a possible solution to some of the identified causes of what is apparently a generic / non descript error that should in all truth NEVER be allowed in code destine for end users, and follow it with the fact that you continue to investigate and welcome added info on configs etc that still exhibit the issue. And the only possible worse action would be to close the thread before you have identified the ROOT CAUSE.

So please, help us help you, trust those telling you they tried the solution and it did not function. Ask folks what their config and other components are, and how they are set up. Look for common threads, common add ons. Look at a few eppisodes of House MD and pay attention to what a differential analysis is and how it is used to identify what it could be vs what it is. The five whys are all very nice but if you start with Why do I get this error for an error that is totally generic and triggered by ANYTHING, the next 4 whys are useless.

Please pass this on to the other folks working on issues that have gone on forever before your user base MOVES ON for ever. And PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE.

By the way, strange thing but ONLY the featured ones fail... the beta filters all work like a charm.

I keep having "there was an error running this filter" error. I have sent feedback using the built in feedback method including the picture(s)

I have updated to version 22.4.2, This did NOT solve the issue
I have quit Photoshop, renamed the following folder C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\UXP\
PluginsStorage\PHSP\22\Internal\com.adobe.nfp.gallery\PluginData Started Photoshop again; This did NOT solve the issue
I have uninstalled Photoshop, re-installed photoshop, rebooted logged out and in of my creative cloud account. This all did NOT solve the issue.
Please advise what to do next to solve the "there was an error running this filter" error

FYI: Today I updated to 22.4.3 with hopes on a solution for this issue, but unfortunately is still -not- solved.

If the neural filters are also for you not working please reply in this topic in order to get some scope in amount of affected users.

YES! That's another dev at Adobe achieving his issue solving target. The bug is marked as 'solved' 🙂 manager is happy, product owner happy puts this filters as a "new feature" on the backlog. Finance is happy, everyone is still paying the monthly Adobe CC subscriptions with minimal support cost.

Have just seen in another thread that this has been recognised and registered as a bug by Adobe:

"We're sorry for the Neural filter issues after the latest update of Photoshop 22.5. We have acknowledged this issue and logged as a bug. Our engineering team working on the fix. As a workaround, you can rollback Photoshop to 22.4.3 version to resolve this issue for now. We really appreciate your patience with us."

That said, I doubt the workaround of rolling back to 22.4.3 will get it working, it was whilst I was already using 22.4.3 that it broke in the first place. I only updated to 22.5.0 because I thought it would fix it.

Hello everyone,

I've had some weird results tonight. I've also found that the filter disables on particular images...

I've found it mainly occurs on newspaper scans. Maybe there's an algorithem reason for this?

So maybe try duplicating the layer and give it a "Filter>Gaussian blur"

Dont be shy, you want to blur those newspaper dots!

Try again.

If your Neural Filter remains disabled, apply another "Filter>Gaussian blur" on the layer.

There seems like there's a sweet spot.

Hopefully this works for everyone tearing their hair out as I was... its some kinda voodoo 🙂

Maybe I'm going loco but seems to work.

Also if it's still disabling... try turning OFF the "facial recognition".

And run it again with just the "photo enhancement", "scratch reduction" and "halftone artifacts reduction" sliders tweaked.

And then try again. Its a dance.
