Should've kept the old save as with all the options like jpeg, png or pdf etc. It’s super annoying to go each time to save as copy. while in the older version with save as you could also select as copy and save as anything you wanted, much better!
Hope this will change back in next update..
(For anyone who doesn’t know how to save as png, jpeg, jpeg2000,pdf etc
you need to go to save as copy and than you will have all those options)
See the official response from Adobe in this thread : https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop/p-save-as-formats-have-disappeared-photoshop-22-4/td-p/1203...
The change was driven by changes in the Mac Operating System, although the changes are applied to both Mac and Windows versions to keep them aligned.
Apple and Microsoft versions are not aligned. Operating System services and File system are different, Users experience are different. Photoshop users on Apple iPad can not save a file cloud document is automatic on iPads. File filtering is different on Windows and OSX.
The iPad is a different thing altogether and no-one is claiming alignment of that. It is also fact that the two operating systems are different.
However, within Photoshop the same named menu items do the same thing whether you are on Mac or Windows. If we ask for Image Size we get the same thing on both, if we ask for Save we get thing on both....... etc etc That has been an important principle for a long time now.
JJ - going on and on about how MacOS is not Windows is futile and a dead end. It's not going to get you anywhere.
The fact is that each is 50% of the user base and it's essential that they are functionally identical. They always have been and will continue to be, regardless of your opinion. This functional consistency has much wider implications than mere "convenience".
I suggest you use your energy looking forward. This change is here to stay and it's not going away. It's perfectly possible to live well with it.
Apple and Microsoft versions are not aligned.
Mac and Microsoft versions of Photoshop are aligned. When I teach Adobe software, the class usually has both Windows and Mac students and I may be put on either system. If Adobe started making the versions different, it wouldn't stop with just this one thing. We would then have to have separate classes, separate books, separate plug-ins, separate actions, and separate forums. Consistency between the platforms is important, imo.
"... on Windows and OSX"
I know you don't use macOS JJ, and don't keep up with Mac nomenclature, but it hasn't been called OSX for a long time. OSX had a long run — 10.0 was released in 2001. Big Sur is 11, but does not use XI. The official name is macOS 11.
The next time an OS changes an API, it could well be Microsoft that makes the change, and we will all adapt.
Yeah, but this lowercase "macOS" seems a bit silly and affected to me...I still reserve the right to call it "MacOS" because that's the grammatically correct way to write it 😉
Of course, if that offends a lot of people, I'm willing to reconsider 😄
Haha! You can say it lots of ways as long as you omit the "X", which was last used in El Capitan. 😊
For the record:
Geezus christ why did they add this "Add a copy" to save a Jpeg thing?? It sucks more than anything has ever sucked before.. It litterally adds 2 moves to my work flow, this was more than unnessasary to say the least. Please get rid of this as fast as possible. If theres a way i can revert... Please do tell. . for the love of god already. Im dying over here.
Im on a PC, Windows 10
