Pattern Preview does not expand, cannot see outside the boundaries.

I wonder if someone could help me.
When I click on Pattern Preview, that boundary box does not expand, I can see the pattern forming within the module, but can not see it repeating outside.

Sorry, I thought I could upload a small video , but apparently only a still image appears.
What's happening is that when I select Pattern Preview, the canvas does not expand so I could preview the pattern repeating on a larger scale, I can only see the pattern forming within the original canvas size.
