Photoshop freezes when I paste an image from AI

Please help me. When I copy and paste images from AI to PSD, photoshop freezes and I have to force quit everytime. When I reopen photoshop its not responding.

What are your specs?

Specific versions of PS and AI, Computer OS, RAM, HD space, Scratch Disk space, Graphics cards, Vram, etc.

The specs are as follows:
1. Photoshop version is 22.4.2
2. Illustrator version is 25.2.1
3. MacBook Pro Big Sur 11.0.1 (M1 Chip)
4. RAM- 8gb, HD Space- 512gb.

Hi. 8gb of RAM is pretty tight for these applications. If you have both open (and likely other apps as well), and then you copy something kind of large, it will try to cache that information to a hard drive. Depending on the space available on that drive, you may encounter a transfer time lag. Even if there's plenty of space, you are likely to see a big lag time. Suggestion is to try using File>Place to put your file into PS. For that,  you don't need to have both apps open at the same time.

To add to @S_Gans reply - 8 GB is not enough.

 

That is your total RAM not available RAM.

 

Mac OS will take some of that as well as other apps.

 

PS has a minimum of 8 GB meaning that your computer needs to have more than that for PS to access.
