Photoshop opens correctly then crashes - only started this week

Hi everyone

I subscribe to Adobe Photoshop (PS) and also use Lightroom (LR). I generally open my images in LR first, then switch to PS via "Edit In".

This week, when I select "Edit In" PS opens but then immediately gives the error message, "Sorry, an error occurred" (see attached). I tried opening an image directly in PS and the same error.

I've uninstalled PS, cleaned the registry, restarted my laptop and then reinstalled PS. I deeided to try a tutorial file and same error.

I've made no changes to the laptop recently and its been working fine for the last few years. It also runs LR and Topaz AI without any issue.

Any thoughts on what might be causing this annoying / frustrating error?

Many thanks

By way of update, re-installed PS v21.2.8 and all working correctly. I may try an earlier version of v22 to see how that fairs.
