Can anyone help? I have saved my PS files to my desktop as TIFF, PSD and PDF. When i go to my desktop to retrieve them the file names are greyed out and i cannot select them. This is very frustrating as i need to send the files for printing today.

Please show a screen shot that clearly shows the greyed out files and tell us what you click to arrive at that point. Also your version of Photoshop and operating system.
