Screen displays blank color of black or green. Won't open pictures

Earlier today it was working fine, but now it will not display any of my photos. It gave me a black screen. 

I updated to the latest date and it now will only give me a green screen. 

No pictures.

Hi

Try enabling this option in preferences and restarting Photoshop to see if it helps

That worked. I never went into that area of preferences before, but at least it seems to have worked.  thank you again.

Did not work on my iMac 2020 running Big Sur and latest Adobe Cloud Photoshop. Really annoyed that we pay all this money for rubbish apps: I have been using Adobe PS since 1989 and never had such an awful "upgrade". What the hell do these overpaid dorks do in Adobe Towers all day long? I just wish Affinity wasn't such a steep learning curve (I have it but had too many legacy PSDs etc and InDesign to complete print files).
