I'm trying to add some text to a photograph and desire to rotate the entire text slightly to the right. When I do so the letters in the text box become misaligned. How do I rotate the text without the letters becoming misaligned as a result of the rotation?

Are you in illustrator or photoshop? Photoshop Edit>Transform>Rotate. This is misaligned your letters?

Hi...I'm in PhotoShop 2021 (latest revision as of yesterday).

Yes. I enter the text on the photo, then go to the text layer and select the text. Then transform and then rotate. When I do so the letters in the text box become misaligned.

Yes, I've already seen this. Can I email you a copy of the jpeg file so you can have a look?

Always maintain a layered PSD as your native file. Export a copy to JPG if that's what you need for final output.
That said, raster images of text are rarely optimal. Inevitably text become pixelated when manipulated because that's the nature of the pixel-based beast. Math-based vector graphics are better suited for text because they can be re-scaled and rotated without any loss in quality.

Hi Nancy:
I have a copy of the PSD file as the jpegs were sent to illustrate the issue. What would you suggest that I do if I want to simply rotate the "USS TICONDEROGA" text and have it come out right. Does PhotoShop 2021 have math-based vector graphics text that I can use?

I found an easy workaround. If I rotate the image slightly and then apply the text, it's in the right place. When done, I simply rotate the image back the same amount in the opposite direction and the text and image are in place. Thanks for trying to help...appreciated.

I just saw the images you sent. I see what you were saying. Sometimes I will put the copy layer straight over the type I want the angle of and rotate it to match the angle. Then just toggle it up until it is where I want. I am glad you found a work around. That's one of the features I love about photoshop, you can always seem to find a work around and it teaches more tricks. Have a great day.

Thanks for taking the time to reply and your efforts to assist. It's too bad that all the text graphics aren't vector-based as it would certainly simplify their manipulation as well as eliminate a lot of steps to do a simple job. For me, my little work around works for what I need and maybe others might find it of value. Have a great weekend. 🙂

Photoshop is for the most part a raster image editor.
Illustrator is a vector graphics editor.
