Adobe Photoshop & Premiere Elements 15 Crashes at Startup!

Community Beginner ,
Feb 05, 2017 Feb 05, 2017

I have both Adobe Photoshop & Premiere 13 installed on my computer and I don't have problems with either one. I installed version 15 of both and they both crash on startup with an error message that says that it has stopped working.

I found something online that said to install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 and that would fix it. I tried doing that but the only options it gave me was to repair or uninstall so I chose repair and that didn't help.

I found something else online that said you need to uninstall Lavasoft Web Companion, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. I tried running the uninstall but it seems to still be there and didn't uninstall.

Why would version 13 work and not version 15?

I'm running a PC with Windows 10.

Please let me know what else I can try. Thanks so much for your help and time!

I actually fixed it already. I download software called AdwCleaner and it removed the Web Companion files that were causing the problem. Thanks!

Thanks, but I already tried that. There is nothing called, "Web Companion" listed there and there is no software by Lavasoft listed there either. I just checked again.

It would be helpful if you can attach the event viewer logs here, by following the instructions mentioned in the article

How to find crash logs on Windows.

From the event viewer logs you have shared, Lavasoft is the one causing the crash.

To resolve this, please go to Location: C:\WINDOWS\system32\

Look for LavasoftTcpService64.dll and rename it.

Now try launching Photoshop Elements.

Let us know if issue still exists.

Thanks,
Anwesha
