I installed Adobe elements last week, after initial setup it started the face analyzing aspect of the program I am going on 6 days and it is only at 66% it is completing about 3% a day and the rest of the program is too slow and unresponsive to use ....How long should this take to finish so I can start using the program?  I currently have about 22,000 pictures it is going through and I have taken the computer out of sleep mode so it is running 24/7.  At this rate I am still 2 weeks out from using the program this can not be normal

Thanks

That's a lot of pictures and the program will analyze them for a long time. Someone more experienced may be able to tell you how long it will take for 22,000 photos.

Personally, I don't find face recognition useful especially considering the work, time and drain on computer memory. I reset and shut it permanently off.

However, if you find face recognition useful, consider shutting it off when you want to use the program; turn it back on at times convenient for you. Preferences > Media-Analysis > People View Settings > uncheck Run Face Recognition Automatically. If resources have been drained, restart your computer.

A reference point for you.

Quad core Intel 4 GHZ 12GB ram with SSD, ~ 500 photos per hour (depending on number of faces needed to be analyzed, I had about 15,000 faces picked up that needed to be deleted). And as some pointed out, the more variation to any named face, the dumber the routine becomes as specific features vs given name set becomes diluted.

Spot on.  Photoshop should discontinue the default option of analyzing faces at launch.  It should be completely optional.  Please hear this, developers!!  This wastes so much time and drains resources for normal activities.

Same goes for "auto creations"  on my computer it can be a resource hog.    Every time after you reinstall the program you have to go into the preference file of organizer to turn it off.
