bevel with PS 12?

How can I bevel an illustration with Photo Shop 12?

I can bevel text but as soon as I try it with an illustration I can'i do it. It is ti be included into a design which I have outlined in an oval shape.

The Background layer is a locked layer.

Open a blank layer at the top of your stack of layers and press CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+E to get a stamp visible layer, a combination of all of the layers. Now, apply the Bevel to this layer

The Background layer is a locked layer.

Open a blank layer at the top of your stack of layers and press CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+E to get a stamp visible layer, a combination of all of the layers. Now, apply the Bevel to this layer

In the layers palette, on the layer with the bevel, double click the f on the right. This brings up the Style settings dialog. Here you can accentuate the bevel with the slider.

The effect is not as profound as when applied to text.
