Camera Raw Preview Button Problem

Camera Raw 17.0.0.2043 in Photoshop Elements 2025 has a non-functional (grayed-out) Preview deselect button: i.e. I cannot switch between the before and after Auto edit settings.

However, if I replace the Camera Raw 17 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 25\File Formats" folder with the Photoshop Elements 2023 Camera Raw 15 "File Formats" folder I get a functional Preview deselect button.

I had this same problem/solution with Photoshop Elements 2024.

Please show us a screenshot of which preview button you are referring to.  What OS are you using?

The before/after buttons are working for me on Windows 11.  And so is the Q keyboard shortcut.  The Auto button itself operates as an on/off toggle.  Are any of those working for you?

To the best of  my knowledge, there is no Preview button in Photoshop elements when using adobe camera raw.   There is a before and after option to display them next to each other while using guided edits.

I also checked ACR in photoshop- no preview button their with ACR either. 

The screenshot below is from the quick mode in PSE 2025 just to show the before and after side by side.

Now in advanced mode in pse 2025 (expert mode in all previouse versions you can create a new window of the same image and edit just one of the images for comparison to the original.

ACR in PSE does have a eye-like "Toggle Visibility" icon (which I erroneously called "Preview Button") shown just to the right of "Basic".

The Edit Auto button does work but only as a Set & Re-Set button, not an on/off toggle.

I now understand.    

Not  all of "eye" buttons work with all image  formats- even if they are a particular raw format image. 

If the visibility eye icon is greyed out in Adobe Camera Raw, it likely means the current document is set to a color mode that doesn't support Camera Raw, such as Indexed Color, Multichannel, Lab, or CMYK.

I only use Adobe-supported Nikon NRW and TIFF without any special color mode. Photoshop Elements 2023 Camera Raw 15 does provide a functional "Toggle Visibility" icon which means there is some error in PSE 2025's Camera Raw 17 and with 2024's PSE-ACR.
