Camera Raw problems, can't open *.raf raw files

Hey guys, Bent from Norway here!

I have seen in this forum that several persons experience problems with installation/update of the Camera Raw app, in order to open *.raf raw files from a Fujifilm camera (I recently bought the X-T50).

I have the same problem, and converting them to *.dng does work but is a bit of a drag. I operate a Mac M1 mini (screen shots below) , I have an updated PSE, and no matter whether I try to install the Camera Raw app from inside PSE, or follow the instructions in the link below, the Camera Raw app simply won't go past 16.0. Yes, the installation process runs its course apparently it installs as it is supposed to. But when I check the camera raw from inside PSE it is stuck at 16.0.

Does anyone have a clue as to what I can do, except delete the PSE completely from my Mac and then reinstall it? Camera Raw plug-in installer (adobe.com) .... it is a bit annoying, to say the least. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

b.

You need at least Camera Raw 16.3 or 16.4, so installing Camera Raw 16.5 should work for opening the

Fujifilm X-T50 raf files.

Have a look at the instructions for updating the Camera Raw plugin for Photoshop Elements here:

Hello Jeff, thank you for your kind help.

I knew I needed at least 16.3, but have tried in vain to install the latest version. It just won't, even after having tried (in severe detail) following the advice you give. I notoriously go to the folder you point me to, but there is no ".8bi"-file to be found. I copy the whole folder and paste it to the path given, in the appropriate version numbered folder. I also deleted the old ones. There is only the 24-version folder left on my computer.

I guess I'll just have to either live with it or delete and then re-install Elements. Not sure what is the best, so if you have any advise I would love to hear it.

Thanks again.

You want to go to

Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins

to see the CC and Elements 24 folders

On the Mac side it would be a Camera Raw.plugin not 8bi file

Hey Jeff and everyone else who tried to help me.

No matter how I did this, and yes I followed the suggestions to the 't', I simply could not manage to update the camera raw to anything higher than 16.0. Eventually I had to de-install the whole elements package and re-install it. So, I think this may very well be a bug and for the time being I will stick to Camera Raw 16.0, and convert the *.raf-files to *.dng. That way I'll at least be able to edit my raw-files.

Thank you all who reached out to me.

Best regards,

Bent

Again, thank you. You must think I cannot read, or follow your kindly given advise. Please re-read all of my previous reply. I have bolded parts of it:

Thanks again for your help.
