Why does Camera Raw shrink photos when opening in PSE 10. As a Jpeg the photo is 72" x 48" at 72 ppi. After editing in Camera Raw and opening into PSE 10, the photos are now approx. 21" x 14" at 240 ppi. Is this an equivalent size? Or is there a way to change the size before leaving Camera Raw? I'm concerned about making larger prints.

Don't worry.
Nothing is shrunk.
Forget the ppi (resolution value) in your case. The only thing that matters is the number of pixels. As you suspected, if you change the ppi without altering pixels, the size in mm/in changes proportionately. Yes, it's an equivalent size.
