Can not open raw images from my Nikon

I have Adobe PhotoShop elements 14.1. The updates are up to date according to when I clicked on the Adobe Help updates. It will not let me open any raw files. This screen shot show what happens. When I go to the link shown, it says my camera is supported. I have a Nikon D5600. I inserted my SD card into the computer and can see the file listed. I can even see the image when I try to open it, but, Photoshop Elements will not open the raw file. Why can't I open the raw file in PhotoShip Elements 14? I have the latest update, as far as I can tell. What gives?

No, your Elements 14.1 does not support the 9.8 version of the ACR converter plugin.

See the links to find first the required plugin for a given camera, then the Elements version compatible with that plugin version.

If you don't want to upgrade to the current 2018 version of Elements, your free solution is to download and install the Adobe DNGconverter mentioned in the faq. That independent software (not a plugin) can batch convert a whole folder of your raw files to the DNG raw format that your PSE can read and edit. Same quality, an additional (batch) step, but free.
