Can you still buy a 32 bit version of PE for WIn 10

Problem: We have a 32 bit version of Windows 10.

It is absolutely not possible for us to upgrade it to 64 Bit (even though the CPU architecture is compatible with 64) because we run proprietary legacy software to drive a number of printers and that software will not run on a 64 bit system. Replacing the printers is not financially viable (we are talking $50K+ to do that)

I have followed a number of links on the Adobe website that say they lead to pages where I can download older versions, but they all end up leading only download links for Photoshop Elements 2021.

Is there any way around this?

Hi,

The last version of Adobe Photoshop Elements for Windows that was 32-bit was Photoshop Elements 14 which was released 6 years ago in 2015.

You can't purchase Elements 14 direct from Adobe any longer, but you can download a 30 day trial version of Elements 14 by following the instructions laid out in this post:

Hi Ian,

Glad to hear my suggestion might be doable 🙂

Re. the Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 trial: the application will stop working after 30 days unless you enter a valid serial number. Uninstalling and reinstalling the trial will not reset the 30-day limit. You'd have to reinstall Windows 10 every 30 days to keep using the trial for longer 🙂

There are secondhand versions of Elements 14 for sale on auction sites, but there is always a risk that you might not end up with a legitimate copy, so please be very careful if you go down that route.

Maybe a better solution would be to purchase a new Windows 10 computer together with Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021. Do all your pre-press work on this new computer then transfer the print-ready files (such as PDFs) to your existing computer to output to your printer(s). There are plenty of great desktop or laptop machines which are powerful enough to comfortably run Photoshop Elements 2021 in the $600 to $1200 price range, so would be a lot cheaper than replacing your printers.

Hope that helps 🙂

Thank you for the prompt reply

Re: a new 64 bit windown computer, that sounds like a good idea. We could network them together and use a KVM switch so that we have a single workstation with two desktop towers, the new 64 would become the Image Processer, the old 32 would be Printer Controller.

Re: the PE trial version, I would still like to try going down the 32 bit PE route first. What happens after the 30 days?. Does it just stop working, and if so, is it just a matter of uninstalling and reinstalling?

Thanks

Ian
