New Here ,
Nov 08, 2017 Nov 08, 2017

save as only gives me the "option" of saving the file as .dng

tried to use the save as under file, but it is grayed-out

looked but could not find a way to specify an extension in preferences, but that's no good.

I could use some help

The 'save' button in the ACR dialog is only used to create a copy of your raw file in the universal raw DNG format.

The ACR dialog in Elements is only the converter and (parametric) raw editor, to save an image file you have to click on the 'Open' button to bring the image in the Elements editor. From there you can save in many formats, print etc.

Keep in mind that the jpeg format does not support 16-bits color depth. Either you set the ACR converter to send 8-bits image to the editor (middle of bottom bar), or before saving from the editor, be sure to convert your image to 8-bits. (menu Image >> mode...)

Take the time to use the 'help' button on the left of the bottom bar in the ACR dialog.
