Warum kann ich keine Bilder von Canon R7 in Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020 aufmachen? Ich habe auch keine Updates für Adobe 2020 bekommen, oder Informationen, daß es Updates gibt, habe ich auch nicht erhalten. Kann ich noch Updates haben?

Photoshop Elements is not a subscription software giving you regular updates justified by your monthly/yearly payments;  its a 'perpetual' license valid as long as your OS and haardware setup meets the system requirements. A new edition is available every year to add new features and bug fixes. Those Elements versions are independent and can be used on the same computer. You have to pay for a new version with a 20% rebate if you have a previous version registered.

You can expect free updates only for the current or very last versions.

Most frequent question: How do I update my ACR converter plugin in Elements?

1 - Each new camera model comes with its own raw format. A new converter must be programmed AFTER the model is available. For Elements, that means that in the best case there will be a free update for the current version, never for older ones, you'll have to wait for the next year version.

2 - For users of older versions, Adobe offers a free solution:  download the free DNGconverter software which allows converting a whole folder of proprietary raw files to the open raw format DNG (which older PSE versions can read and edit with the same quality. An additional batch step, but free).

3 - You can use the converter software supplied by your camera manufacturer

4 - There is a manual workaround to update PSE. I think it should work for your R7 and PSE2020.

5 - The R7 requires ACR version 14.4 (which is available with the current PSE2023), maybe time to buy it?
