Card locked, read-only and can't delete photos from Organizer

I want to delete photos from my Organizer, but when I try I get message that photos are locked or read only.

I checked my memory card and it is unlocked. I have been having problems with PSE 20 on a MacBook

for a month now. I can't edit photos.

Too bad there seems to be no phone support for PSE because I would be willing to pay a "reasonable" fee to try to solve my problem. It seems to have started when I combined Nikon Capture NX-D and View NX-1 software with PSE. I backed up my photos thinking I could then delete and reinstall from the backup. But now my backup seems to be worthless if the photos are locked.
