Coded Character Set problem in Adobe Photoshop Elements 2018

New Here ,
Feb 23, 2018 Feb 23, 2018

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 18 to change all the photos in a folder from TIFF format to JPG using the option “Process Multiple Files” o saving individual files.

The photos in TIFF format have the Title field of the metadata with information like this:

“1980-04-dd DR Església de Sant Andrèu - Salardú - Naut Aran - Vall d'Aran - Lleida.”

Observing the output in JPG format I see that the information has been transformed into this:

“1980-04-dd DR Església de Sant Andrèu - Salardú - Naut Aran - Vall d'Aran - Lleida.”

Apparently, there is an unwanted change in the value of certain metadata fields when they are not normal characters.

In some pictures the error does not occur. I have observed two similar photos using ExifTool and I think the problem is that one of the occurrences of the "Coded Character Set: UTF8" is lost.

Correct photo:
