connection to original photos

Community Beginner ,

photoshop elements 15 lost always the connection to the original photos. I don't change anything at the original photo.

Please tell what I can do. The searchfunction need more than a day to find the connection for many hundred photos.

Thank you very much!

Do you mean the files show as 'disconnected' or 'missing' with a question mark (?) on the thumbnails?

or

You save 'version sets' of your original (untouched) image and you can no longer see and find the original?

If that's your problem, you may be showing your files in the new 'adaptative grid' view which shows only the images without any file name, date or version sets/stacks small icons. You have simply to use the shortcut 'Ctrl D' to switch to the old 'detailed' view with filename, date and version set icons; that enables you to 'expand' the stack or version set and see your original.

The organizer never changes arbitrarily the location of the file as recorded when when the file was catalogued.

In the 'Information' panel on the right panel, you can see what was recorded.

It's up to you to find where the file is now and to compare the locations (do an explorer/finder search for the file name).

Compare the drive letters, paths...

Thank you ver much! Now can see, that the path is not right. It was another path on my old PC. Thank you once more.

But I have a second question:

I have elements 15 as test version. When I write a description on a photo, than it is now more in middle of the photo. In my old version was the font at lower edge of the photo. Is it possible to change the position of the font?

a related question. I  purchased a new pc and want to install a new version of photoshop elements. how do I move the photos from my old photoshop on old PC to the new photoshop program on new PC laptop. and I am then not clear how the new program will "find" the migrated photos if they've been saved on an old hard drive. Petrified of seeing those dreaded question marks. if the files were backed up to an external hard drive, will the new photoshop program be able to locate them if the external hard drive is connected to the laptop? Thank you all

The answer is in this help file:

Move Elements Organizer catalog | Elements 6 or later

The most important thing is that the backup is not a simple copy of your media files; it's a single folder containing everything to restore both your image library (the media folders trees) and your catalog. That folder is used by the restore process of the organizer to re-create the library, the catalog... and to keep the links in the catalog updated to the new location you have chosen: new computer or drive.

I am not sure if you mean the location of the caption when you are printing, or when you are browsing in full screen mode (F11 key)?

Unfortunately, you can't customize the position of the caption in this viewing mode. At most, when browsing manually, you can click and drag the caption elsewhere, but that's still over your image and you can't change the fond size.

Thank you so much for your help. That's not so nice that the captain is in the middle of the photo. That was better with the older versions of elements. Sorry for my english. It's only school english.

Best regards, Klaus

I would recommend using a free and very useful external software like FastStone  PhotoResizer. Many options to batch save or print images with enough flexibility for captions.

You have more options for placing the captions in Elements for printing than for the slideshow.

Sorry, I was 1 week not available.

When I will use Faststone, is it possible to apply 1 to 1 the captain from photoshop elements? Because I made the description at many many thousand photos.

Another question: Is it possible to buy an upgrade elements 15 for elements 6? Or have I to buy a full version, because elements 6 is to old?

Sorry for so many questions
