Considering upgrading from 14 to 15 - Photoshop Elements 15 & Premiere Elements 15 - Is it worth it?

Why not download the free trial versions and test them for 30 days. For Photoshop Elements 15 my blog has details of the new features:

I checked out upgrading and the cost is higher than buying a new copy of 15. Is that possible? YIKES

There is no "upgrade." Each version of the program is independent. Any reference to "upgrade" is a marketing tool.

sucks... Adobe has been my bete noire for decades. Greedy bunch. They are going to face fierce competition and likely drop out of the set of prime s/w providers.

I'd suggest waiting before you upgrade.
I've installed Elements 15 running on Windows 10. My primary motivation was to use Elements Organiser as a replacement for Google Picassa. Issues I've found so far:
1. Mouse actions - choose an action from a menu, drag and drop etc. just didn't work. After searching forums and reading similar experiences from other users various 'fixes' were suggested. Eventually combinations of minimizing and maximizing the Organiser window 'enabled' the mouse actions to work successfully.
2. Import photos from a local file system crashes Elements. I have approximately 18000 photos (mix of jpeg and raw). Approximately half way through the import Elements crashed. By trial and error I managed to work out which file was causing the issue. I removed the file and the import was successful. The file in question is a jpeg which loads fine in Windows 10 photo viewer and the EXIF data looks ok.
3. Attempting to create a slide show from a set of selected photos eventually produces the error 'Unable to create Slideshow with the assets provided'.
Do Adobe actually test Elements software before releasing it to their customers or do they expect their customers to do the testing for them? These faults are basic and should never get through even superficial software test before release. I've given up using Elements for now and I'm waiting for Adobe to release a patch release, hopefully soon.
Really poor job Adobe.

Thanks, John, for such a detailed description of issues. I'll wait or find something else.
Speaking of "testing" (get out the dictionary?), Adobe's email notification asked me to visit the message and click "Correct" below the answer (you gave). Of course there isn't such there. Then there are more instructions written in such tiny print they are impossible to read. If they can't be bothered to use a readable type font and size, I won't be bothered to try to read them.

The Correct Answer button only appears at the bottom of each post when you're signed in to the Adobe forums with your Adobe ID.
If you clicked a link in your email, it's possible you were sent to the forums without being signed in.
