i have an extensive collection of photographs (about 30,000) which are not particularly well organized. I am considering changing platforms from pc to iMac. Any experience or problems with transferring to iMac?

There are two options:

-Use the Organizer Backup & restore feature to transfer your catalog

-Install Elements on the new iMac, start a new catalog and import as required.

Method two may be best if your photos are not properly organized and you wish to start over. This would also mean no worries about missing files.  You could write keywords into the files by selecting all on the Windows machine before you copy files to the iMac. That could help with better organization but obviously starting a new catalog would mean the loss of any albums, stacks, events etc.

N.B. If you originally purchased a download it may be compatible for Windows only. The boxed software usually has disks for both Windows and Mac.
