I have Elements 13 - I am currently digitizing old 35mm slides, however, this still results in a digitized copy of the slide - can Elements 13 convert these digitized versions into picture images and, if so, how?
OH DEAR - A VERY EXTREMELY SENIORE CITIZEN/MAN MOMENT!!!!!
I went back to the instructions and found I had to press another button or two and, GUESS WHAT? IT WORKS!!!!!
Many, Many Apologies for taxing your (and my) brain - in the words of the Immortal Simpson "DOHHHHH!"
Again many thanks and have a Great New Year.

Can't you save the scans as JPGs?

Am using an ION PICS 2 SD Scanner so have no choice in the saved format - it just comes out as a digitised copy of the 35mm slide.

Are you utilizing a digital converter? If not, how are you doing it?

I have scanned a couple of hundred slides with a similar unit without any problem. I looked up info. about your unit, and found this:
"Pics 2 SD has a built-in SD card slot, so you can scan directly to virtually any SD card without needing a computer. You can also connect Pics 2 SD to your Mac or PC and use it as a handy SD card reader. You can drag and drop your pictures from Pics 2 SDright onto your desktop."
When I open a picture file derived in a similar manner, it is JPEG format, and looks ok on screen and prints just fine. Some of the files benefit from adjustment in PSE, e.g. Levels, Brightness/contrast, Unsharp mask. I do that for the "keepers".
So, please tell us more as to the issue that you encounter.

OK, I place the old 35mm slides in the appropriate holder, insert the holder into the ION PICS 2 SD into which I have already loaded an SD Card. I have followed the instructions and pressed the film button and save. Then what is saved to the SD Card is a digital representation of the slide itself and not a picture of it (as one might see in an old fashioned slide projector or one of the small viewers that one can still buy). Should I have pressed the picture button, or is that just for the photos that one inserts in another holder?

Since I don't have this unit I can not experiment, but it would seem that the "picture" option may be the way to go.
Why don't you try it - nothing to lose - ??
By the way, if you open one of your scans in PSE and press CTRL+I, what happens?

Hey - you've hit the nail right on the head - BINGO press CTRL+I - forgot all about that one but it works a treat - very many thanks.

Yes, but that still does not explain why you have to invert.
Here is a randomly selected digitized slide from my Wolverine F2D converter as it came out of the machine.
No post processing!

Hummm that's about one thousand percent better quality than I've got by the CTRL+I method - I'll have a go at using the Photo option on ION tomorrow to see if that works and get back. Incidentally, very many thanks for all of your help so far and hope you will have a Very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Nope nothing appears to help. I've tried a couple of things today - first of all I turned the slides around thinking maybe they go in a different way than if one is using a viewed and all I got was basically a reverse of what I had before ie a digital copy of the slide not a nice photocopy of the image. Secondly, I tried using the photograph function with the slides and all I got with that was an extremely dark image of the photograph with several lines down them - tried lightening/brightening in PSE but to no avail. I think I might have to use this ION for digitizing my slides, negatives and photos (although I can do the latter on my Epson printer) and look into buying a Wolverine 2D like yours.

Why not call and/or e-mail ion for help with the unit.
Another option - there are several vendors who will do this for you. Depending on the number of slides to be converted, it may be cost effective.
