Current Photoshop Elements and Camera Raw cannot use Canon EOS 80D raw pictures

I am attempting to open .cr2 files generated by my new Canon EOS 80D camera. But Photoshop elements tells me it cannot open them not even in Camera Raw and I need to check if the version is on the current release. I did an upgrade and I am on the current release! But I am still not able to open the files. What am I doing wrong?

What version of photoshop elements and operating system are you using?

Photoshop elements 15 is the current version.

Cameras supported by Camera Raw

The 80D is only supported in Camera Raw 9.5 or later which is compatible with Elements 15 out of the box (and Elements 14 by updating the Camera Raw plugin).

So the questions for you:

• Which exact version of Elements are you running?
  Photoshop (Mac) or Help (Win) > About
• If Elements 14, have you updated to Camera Raw 9.5?
